The Flickr Saga
THE FLICKR SAGA HAS ENDED!
As from 23/03/2007, Flickr as adopted a new rating system that renders quasi obsolete the NIPSA rating system. Please refer to Flickr’s website for more information. Further more my account has been reviewed SAFE by Flickr so my pictures are all searchable again!
If it was only for my own NIPSA, i woudn’t be gone in a vendetta against Flickr in the first time. But the actual changes they did adresses the vast majority of criticisms I had against their rating system. Now finally Flickr can be fun to use again, their TOS is way more clear, the rating system includes everybody equally and I can start tagging my pictures again =)
Way to go Flickr! You did a good job!

=================================
FLASH NEWS: Flickr censored my SL picture gallery, They gave me a warning and put all the pictures PRIVATE so the general public cant see them. Apparently even 3D nudity is inappropriate for Flickr. Its sad but I may just have to move the gallery to private servers. Too bad because I liked Flickr for the social side of it, but if it prevents me from showing my love to the world, I’ll have no other choice.
UPDATE: I have a really really hard time selecting what appropriate or not according to Flickr’s TOS. There checking right to see if the content is “appropriate”. I cant show my pussy but bare ass and breasts sounds okay. But im not sure i can show myself eating somme pussy even if theres no frontal view. So ill remake public again those pictures i’m SURE theres no problem with, then you will need to add yourself to my Contacts as Friends so you can see the ultra hardcore XXX rated stuff.
UPDATE (AGAIN): Well apparently all of my “Me and my girls” shoots are inappropriate according to the Flickr censor bureau because of “sexual contact”. Including clothed girls kissing. So i had to put the WHOLE set to private again. Including kissing, cuddling, and what they called sexualized kissing.
UPDATE (THIS IS NOT FINISHED!): Censor bureau decided that Victoria Coppola’s new set has to be banned from the eyes of the weak. I dont know if you people agree with me but this is not right. 99% of american kids have MTV showing them bimbos rubbing their boobs on rappers car, getting treated like bitches, and that is okay. But exposing genuine love on Flicker, even in 3D, is highly innapropriate. After that we will wonder how people can reach adult age without knowing a single useful thing about sex (which BTW is an ungodly and evil non-human thing to do.). Nevermind the thousands of unprotected, real live sex thumbnail gallery posts, kids will surely come jerk off on good old Code’s 3D gallery sets. XD
HERES THE RULE: Upload photos that include frontal nudity, genitalia and/or “intimate moments” between consenting partners in public areas of Flickr
If you do we’ll make your photostream private and remind you of this Guideline. If you don’t heed our warning and continue to make similar content public, we’ll terminate your account without warning. This applies to your Buddy Icon as well. (no mention of 3D or drawings but those apparently comes into those guidelines too).
UPDATE: Well sounds like my account is marked NIPSA because none of my new PG posts are appearing in the tagged streams. Contacted the reps, may have an answer within 9 days. This is not my week.
LAST MINUTE NEWS!
Remember my pending NIPSA case?
I’m sorry but Flickr is for sharing photos that you yourself
have taken. Your “secondlife” images are not considered
photos so your account has been marked NIPSA. Please
review our FAQ for more information and the steps you can
take to have your account status re-reviewed:

Basically the FAQ says they wont take any pictures that are not RL photos. You probably will be surprised because theres hundreds of SL related galleries that appears in the search and main Flickr stream. So even if all my stuff has already been censored, this is the second attempt of Flickr to censor me.
Guys, looks like im going dedicated. I’ll post my new web URL with all uncensored galleries real soon.
UPDATE SINCE THE LAST ANNOUNCE:
Well it seems I went dedicated! Enjoy the new blog! =)
Love you babies, thanks for your support
Very yours,

If you add private images to a group members of that group can view them, thus the people who are actually interested in your pictures (ie: the Second Life group or Second Life [Mature] for non-PG stuff) can view them.
Now on to personal oppinion: I am whole-heartedly sick of people complaining about the Flickr TOS. The guidlines are there for you to read when you sign up. I’m not a prude, I have plenty of nudes in my gallery but any that contain frontal nudity are private and available for viewing by my friends and members of the Second Life [Mature] group.
If you are so very passionate about your art that you want to be exempt from the rules then you should make a website dedicated to you SLart. It’s important to be passionate about what you do, and if you feel that your work deserves a website then get to it, girly.
There will be no little monitor to tell you how many views you’ve gotten, but then again, I guess if that’s an issue you should take a long hard look at why you’re so annoyed with flickr.
Greetings Dakota,
I’d just like to precise that I did read the TOS right before registering for a premium. Honnestly, maby i’m even less prude or lets say scandalous, I really did not see anything applying to 3D imagery or drawings. In this assumption I was wrong. But this is still an ambiguity I think Flickr should adress.
My biggest problem with Flickr was to obtain answers. What exactly is acceptable or not. I’ll soon post my series of correspondances with Flickr and you’ll see theres a lot of gray zones, non said and things that are just not clear. Like why pictures of girls kissing are sexualized kissing, and other SL galleries of boys kissing girls goes fine. Homophobia? Maby, maby not. Anyways, personnally I think Flickr’s TOS leaves so much to interpretation that it cannot technically be called a TOS. Basically it says, if we dont like it we will remove it.
One other problem with Flickr’s attitude toward SL photographers is this one; they treat 3D imagery as photography when it is time to censor it, but they don’t acknowledge SL pictures photography so they flag your account NIPSA.
Anyways, this was my old Flickr profile, that I archived here precisely to remind newcomers that Flickrs has serious constraints regarding SL pictures, whatever they are. It’s not too much to say Flickr has an attitude towards SL picture takers, and frankly I understand them flipping out when they see the bandwidth bills. We post massive amounts of pictures. It’s just got much more complicated to manage public/private sets then when I posted public. So I wanted newcomers to know dumping em on Flickr like I did is a no no.
But don’t worry, Flickr sucked so much of my time, I’m not bothering with them anymore at all. I just wanted to warn others of the potential problems to prevent.
I’m way beyond there, this is why I opened this new website. Soon enough my Coppermine gallery will complete my public display of my actual Flickr private sets. I’ll have to cross post but I’ll take the effort.
Hope this precised my toughts a bit better (its late in here),
With love
-Codie
Oh Dakota and thanks for the Mature SL groups pointer. I’m so busy nowdays that I did’nt check much for other SL related groups, especially adult ones. I already use other SL related groups in my daily routine to drive more traffic, adding a few mature SL groups will only bring a lot more I think.
TY

[...] I was not really surprised to see a wave of protestation going on Flickr, since all the problems I had with them censoring my work in the past, I hoped this matter was resolved with their new rating system. Seems this is another issue this time that all german users seems to have. Extracted from Marquez Tone’s Flickr Stream: [...]
