Rouge Windlight Settings

Art, Content Creation, Flickr, My Friends, My Second Life, Photoshoots, Rouge — CodeBastard Redgrave on October 29, 2008 at 6:52 am

I need to post positive before going on a rambling about the OpenSpace issue, so I thought I would share something pretty and fun to calm down. Lately I was hanging with Gabby at our new (soon to be closed) little asian inspired retreat we just built, and I fiddled a few fun Windlight settings and I thought I would share them with you lovelies.

Those are instructions for SecondLife viewer on Vista. Location may differ on Macs, Linux and WinXP ;)

  1. Download Rouge_Windlight.zip
  2. Unzip this ZIP archive directly in:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SecondLife\app_settings\windlight\skies
  3. Restart SecondLife

Of course I won’t explain how to select them from the Windlight menus, this is pretty standard stuff.

I recommend setting your water to red, black or even white for super cool reflection effects!

Chindogu Grand Opening

Chindogu, Content Creation, Events, Flickr, My Friends, My Second Life, Scripting / Building — CodeBastard Redgrave on October 21, 2008 at 11:48 pm

(reposted from http://ali.alidarmoxie.com/2008/10/16/chindogu-grand-opening/)

As you all are well aware, Alidar Moxie has been scripting some of the most useful and clever tools in SL. Via her MechanizedLife stores, she has connected a growing number of SL businesses and nonprofits to Google applications (her CogCalendars and CogBoards) and her Web-based StatsCollectors to help track visitors and let them know of coming events. Often, what she has needed for her own development efforts in Second Life she ends up building, then making the tool available through her store. (Things like Countdown Timers, FormsExchanger, Fishbowls, etc.)

View from above the MechLife building

View from above the MechLife building

Last year, she changed plans for a city sim and gathered together a crack crew of builders and roleplayers  to develop Dune Apocalypse, an RP sim based on Frank Herbert’s novels and the miniseries based on them. Last fall, as the sim flourished, she turned her creativity toward creating elegant furniture that incorporated her scripting genius. From steampunk-influenced timepieces, music box jewelry displays to sets of furniture for bedroom, living room, or office, Ali’s offers a nice range of creations for the discerning shopper. All carry her special sense of aesthetic.

Throughout all of her phases of creativity, Ali has reached out beyond the confines of Second Life with the usual battery of Web 2.0 social devices: the backbone server support for her MechanizedLife gadgets as well as support blog and wikis (with help from her Girl Friday, Paypabak Writer), which also extended to a thriving forum and support wiki for the DA sim.

View from above Ali

When the Dune sim collapsed amid circumstances beyond her control, she pressed the Reformat button, returning to her original intent for the sim. With all she’s learned, Ali brings this sense of style and community to the creation of a city sim: a place to live, to shop (and sell), and have fun. It provides a home for both of her stores and an invitation to like-minded residents to share in its making. For instance, she has created a communal social area where dance parties can be held. By using a device she has developed, the same area can be transformed into a wedding hall and there are plans for a swimming pool, too. Flying around the entire sim (ala Bladerunner) is a mini-zeppelin that can display advertising or messages. Other ad signs greet store visitors and follow them around. She has just finished a theater with a feed for old-time scifi movies that is open to the public. A lake is centrally located for those who like to kayak or swim. A large shopping mall has been developed with flexible rental plans so vendors can optimize their sales.

The name of the sim is Chindogu, but the sensibility derives from Ali’s wonderful blend of aesthetic taste and playfulness. You can find numerous photos in our Flickr group to see what is there. To celebrate accomplishments so far and to invite people to share in the continued development of the sim, we are planning a grand opening celebration that includes dancing and fireworks, an open push period for playing Bladerunner (we may use a combat system but need to work out details), giveaways, and more following a Halloween theme! Plan on visiting the sim during the day on Saturday, October 25 for festivities starting at 11:30 am slt. Check the SL Events calendar for further details. Join MechanizedLife support group to get announcements and receive the occasional freebie. Contact Paypabak Writer with suggestions and questions.

Crossing the 75000 views milestone on Flickr

Art, Flickr, My Friends, My Second Life — CodeBastard Redgrave on July 31, 2008 at 8:18 am

I told you people I would not bother you before crossing another significant milestone on Flickr. The last one was 50K, and now I crossed 75000 views. Thanks to all the people that came to visit my Flickr stream, leaving all of those lovely comments (even if I admit I completely lost track over the replies). Hopefully, I can create more work of love for you sweet people and cross the 100K barrier in no time!

Oh can I dream? ;)

Un merci très Rouge

Gawd what a party. An incredible night for me and I hope for every one of the 750 unique visitors that hit the Rouge sim in the 15h of partying. I can say that an impressive part of SecondLife’s who’s who got in there that night. I had so many nice and enriching conversations, met many awesome people I never had the chance to meet before, it was simply magical for me.

Of course, after such an epic but rushed event (it was the last moment I could organize such a huge event before vacations), I wanted to give a very warm thank you to everyone that helped organizing the event and everyone that passed by, sometimes up to 4 or 5 times in the night. That was amazing. Thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart, I had the most fun I had in SL in months.

Special super thanks to all the DJs from the digital Digital Nation guys, Nexeus Fatale, Eris Alexander, Amanda Shinji, Nephie Eerie, DJ Azu, you guys were all incredible. And thanks a whole lot to my lovely hosts Queen Coronet and LadyArwen Demina, you girls were amazing.

Thanks to Gabby Panacek my lovely executive assistant for helping to promote the event. Thanks to Ryker Beck for making that awesome portrait of Gabby and Marx for me, I’m still in awe. It’s simply gorgeously beautiful. Thanks to Mairead Fitzgerald for making that beautiful Rouge gown she gave away for free through the night. It’s now on sale at Simply Silks. Thanks to Callie Cline for the nice freebies and for making it so much fun. Thanks to Gorgeous from Juicy for the lovely shooz I gave away. Thanks to Roxette Wise for giving over 60 lovely outfits. Thanks to Alexx Markova for making another 40 pose set for Boudoir Rouge and to celebrate the sim opening. Thanks to Jacek Antonelli for the Rouge Bubble Ride that is already placed on the sim so you can enjoy very special bubble rides. Thanks to Celebrity for letting me hump her, that was delicious.

Thanks to every blogger and journalist that encouraged and promoted the event, and covered the event after it ended. We had amazing press coverage, hundreds of awesome artsy pictures, even 7 videos made during the night. All if this is covered in the updated press review post.

Again, of course I want to state I am immensely grateful to Eshi Otawara for making my dream come true, and to Fallon Kazan for generously donating this sim.

Thanks to Osiris, Jun, Washu, Damien, Marx, Neysa, Erotica, Nadine, Krys, Stephen, Sho, Kimmy, geez I could not possibly thank everyone individually that helped in a way or another, but I thank you all for being such wonderful lovelies with me. I surely don’t deserve so much sweetness, but know that I am blissful, grateful, humbled and honored of it all. Each and every day you people proves me that theres some hope for a better humanity, compassion, generosity and beauty.

I love you all to tiny little bits.

Your red host, Codie

Now I can relax a bit. My exhibits are on place at SL5B and I’m glad it’s all done with the organizing. This year I’m blessed to have two exhibits, one for my Boudoir Rouge series, and one for my unreleased, exclusive Avatrait collection called China Red. Thanks to Greg from Avatrait to allow me to expose those exclusives again, since this is still one of my favorite series I did.

Designer Love

Art, Boudoir Rouge, Code Red, Fashion, Flickr, My Friends, My Second Life, Product, Reviews — CodeBastard Redgrave on April 28, 2008 at 6:57 am

One thing I didn’t expect at all was that some designers would actually start spending their time designing me stuff. Well, I got served pretty good. Not only one, but two designers delivered me a very special gift in the same week.

I mentioned them before but I thought it deserved a post on their own, just to state on how much I felt honored by the gesture. Those lovelies actually spent HOURS of their precious time making this for lil old me? OK girls. You got me. I’m falling on my ass.

Beware, you peepz know I certainly don’t pretend to be anything like a fashionista or fashion blogger. So in a blocky fashion, here is a bit more about those incredible outfits, with pictures of myself modelling them, and stuff.

Codie’s Gown - From Nuclear Boutique

Sasy Scarborough introduced me to Arikinui Adria (AKA Ari), and in the first instant I talked to this adorable woman, I was charmed. It didn’t take long before I invited her to Boudoir Rouge, because her name means sophistication and beauty and sexy.

One night she totally blew my mind when I saw that item drop into my inventory. I saw the name and I was like, no fucking way! And I put it on and it was perfection.

I have a HARD time finding fitting system skirts, mainly because some designers don’t check their skirts on larger avatars, and they put the texture topping too low. Result is I end up with a ring of emptiness around the waist. Not with this one, it is a perfect fit.

Fluffy prims are attached on shins, making it hugging the legs pretty nicely. Very elegant soirée gown, probably one of the best I own. Honnest! Tho I admit there may be a bit of favoritism, I let you be the judges.

Codie’s Gown is available through this SLURL. Check Nuclear Boutique’s Blog for more info.

Codie Corset - Bluebell Fasions

How an amazing gift Roxette Wise made me for the Boudoir Rouge launch party. This 4 variation set of lingerie with corset is nothing short of amazing. I sure own a few lingerie sets, and this is one of the good ones. And well, the color scheme is so me ;)

Roxette posted about it on Bluebell Fashion’s blog.

Available on OnRez, SLX or inworld.

Also, I would like to mention that Dinee Ghia made me an adorable necklace using my logo. Picture of it follows. It’s lovely sweetheart, TY so so much, big smoochies!

Like if that was not enough, I heard some other things were on preparation for me. Will keep you posted as it comes. You people always amaze me. Much love.

Boudoir Rouge Poseset Number 2

Art, Boudoir Rouge, Code Red, Content Creation, Dramavatar, Flickr, My Friends, My Second Life, OPC, Photoshoots, Product — CodeBastard Redgrave on April 12, 2008 at 4:57 pm

After much success with the Boudoir Rouge poseset, and needing more poses to finish the series, I decided to custom order another 40 poses set from Alexx Markova. They are also now for sale, for your own enjoyment.

Boudoir Rouge - Poseset #2

~~ The Boudoir Rouge Poseset #2 ~~
~~ The Official Poseset for the Boudoir Rouge photo series
~~ From CodeBastard Redgrave

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE STORY
This 40 poses set has been custom designed for the Boudoir Rouge photo series created by artist and photographer CodeBastard Redgrave.
You can see the Boudoir Rouge series on Flickr here:
http://flickr.com/photos/cbredgrave/sets/72157603777971430/
For more information visit the Boudoir Rouge homepage:
http://codebastard.com/boudoir-rouge/
They have been created by Alexx Markova on special order. 40 new poses have been custom made by Alexx for the remaining of the Boudoir Rouge series. This set focuses mainly on back shot poses, lingerie and intimate poses, as well as more classic pinup and boudoir style poses.
One important thing about those poses is they have been created and ajusted to fit my own avatar shape which is more curvy than the average woman shapes, making them fit for the round women as well as thinner ones.
I throughly reviewed, tested and made correction requests to avoid any limb or finger collision, cause as little articulation deformation as possible, and minimize clothing glitches as much as possible. With such tough revision cycle, I wanted to insure that I would have poses which requires less postprocessing.
This poseset is the product of a close collaboration with Alexx Markova and myself for all aspects of the process. Alexx did the all the execution and I helped him review and correct the poses for better photography usage. Of course I’m proud of having the opportunity to bring you this very special poseset.
I really hope you will enjoy those poses as much as I enjoyed working with them.
Very yours,
Codie <3
Boudoir Rouge Photo Contest: And The Winners Are
Art, Boudoir Rouge, Code Red, Content Creation, Contest, Events, Flickr, Funny, My Friends, My Second Life — CodeBastard Redgrave on April 4, 2008 at 12:04 pm
*drumroll!* Sorry for lagging that much, I was too busy to do a decent post announcing the winners for the Boudoir Rouge Photo Contest. Let me first say that this was for fun. And I had a lot of fun. And I was flattered and honored by every submission to this contest. Being your model was symbolically very important to me, it really honored me greatly to have you all doing that for me.
This said, one reason why I hate contests, is that I cannot make everybody win. I was tempted to take the whole L$12000 and split it in 10 parts and shower everyone. But as every contest, the point was to try to encourage talent. To those who didn’t make the cut, don’t feel left out, your work was all so nice it was very painful to have to choose just a few ones. It was in fact so painful that I added a 5th winner and ended up in a split that made me add L$1000 in prize money.
So, in reverse orders, the winners are:
5th PLACE: TIE (L$1000 each) - Jacek Antonelli and Harper Beresford
CodeBastard Redgrave
Jacek’s entry is awesome and got very little processing, all lighting and angles are from inworld lighting, and I like the portrait cut.
Codie, unprocessed
Harper’s an awesome inworld photographer. She may not postprocess but she definitely have much talent. The lighting, angle and framing are just perfect. Very good job.
4th PLACE: L$2000 - Cicciuzzo Gausman
CodeBastard Redgrave
I would have favored a larger format for this submission but never mind, it does look awesome. The hazy treatment, the lighting, the angle, the motion blur, the atmospheric is awesome.
3rd PLACE: L$2500 - Vint Falken
Boudoir Rouge™ Perfume
I mean…. XD…. Do I really have to comment? Hilarious, charming, flattering. Vint actually never took any studio pictures of me, it’s good if she took one single picture of me ever apart that. But her entry into the matter is spectacular, as she is. When I saw that shot, I laughed for the whole day. I love that girl.
2nd PLACE: L$2500 - Elease Graves
Pure Bliss- CodeBastard Redgrave- By Elease Grave'08
This is actually my desktop wallpaper. Stunning. The treatment is awesome, and the mix with illustration too. I just want to lick it. Elease always impressed me and she just keeps getting better and better.
1st PLACE: L$5000 - Mylena Aquitaine
Codie_I
Gosh girl! That kicks ass. The whole 4 picture set is outstanding. The lighting, soft ambiance, but especially the angles and her choice to do what I cannot do with Boudoir Rouge, use framings where we cannot see the faces. But she dares doing it, and with delicious results. I picked this one as my favorite but each of them submitted were pure delight. You deserve that 5K up hand Mylena.
I want to wholeheartedly congratulate and thank the other participants to the contest: Amanda Shinji, Véronique Lalonde, Osiris Pfalz, Rheta Shan, I know you girls knows I love your pictures and I will pay your prize in kisses and love. ;)
OUT OF CONTEST HONORABLE MENTIONS
The following pictures were submitted out of the Boudoir Rouge Photo Contest period but were too outstanding to avoid. There is 3 posts that especially got my attention and that I would like to share.
Quickies: Smoulder
Codie
Boudoir Rouge
All winners will get their prize inworld tomorrow night. I am so honored and proud of all of you participating and coming to my humble event to encourage me, your friendship is dear to my heart and I shall honor it. Much love.
