Thanks for the information Bart, indeed you are right about that, my apologies for the miscalculations. But I hope you agree it doesn't change much to the problem itself.

You got the underlying maths wrong.

One normal, full blown sim runs on one core of a quad core, meaning normally 4 full blown sims running on a quad core.

This means, if talking about private regions: 4*295 US$ = 1180 US$/month.

Now an open spaces sim is 1/4 of an full blown sim in terms of prims, so 4 of them run on one core in the quad core, meaning 16 on a server, to 16 * 75 US$ = 1200 US$ / month.

Also the same if you are going to compare the setup fees: 4 * 1000 US$ = 4000 US$ for 4 normal, and private regions with 16 * 250 US$ = 4000 US$. So they make a little bit more income with a quad core only running open spaces sims, but not much, compared to private regions, just about 20 US$.

thank you for the support codie. there's so many people being affected by this, the list goes on and on.

i've spoken to artists like eshi who believe her business model will suffer a great deal. i've spoken to people who use an OS as just a private home, and keep their regular sim for business - who will not pay a new price.

then truly creative people like aza (who owns tainted hearth) who is considering leaving SL over this...

it really does put people in bind when they dont offer a way to comply with "light use" (which alot of people thought was already in place - restrictions on how many agents could visit an OS) instead they just up the price.
