Thought Police debarks in SecondLife
If you didn’t already hear about that shockwave hitting SecondLife in the last weeks, you must be living under a rock or didn’t login into SL for a long while. Since most of it has already been decried by others, I just wanted to add my voice to those of the vast majority of the mature SL community to denounce this new 1984 like climate on our wonderful metaverse that stays one of Role Playing between consensual adults. I wont comment more, I will just link to articles from Pixel Pulse mag and from my uber-blog guru Tateru Nino explaining the problem in details.

My own rant on this…
Yes! What she said! Who the hell does Linden Lab think makes all those fussy bullshit complaints about offensive content? The stick in the ass conservatives who are terrified of anything outside their miserable sheltered existences, that’s who. And I’m sorry, but if you’ve spent *any* time in-world, you’ve probably seen that there’s no way in hell that’s the majority of the customer base. Just because we’re not blubbering to Linden every ten minutes with some bull doesn’t mean we don’t have a voice or opinions. I guess now we gotta be doubly sure they get heard.
Excellent rant Zoe and Myg. I think I am not alone that is scandalized by those issues. I invested more than 3000K USD in this “game” in 5 months, it’s not to see it turned into a giant Barbie doll fashion set.
My big problem with it is that, like in 1984 where the kids denounces their own parents, LL drops a bomb like that, and who will take care of the disciplin? The community of snitches and snoops? Will you denounce your neighbour? Where does the witch hunt start and where does it stop? Already my good friend Lienna Jael, famous journalist for Pixel Pulse and CyberspaceBabes has been expulsed from a lousy club because her avatar isnt a 36-24-36 bimbo, therefore looked “child like”! (exclusive story coming soon on this blog). No, i’m not kidding!
There is LL’s biggest mistake ever. Establishing policies it’s citizens don’t want, and expecting those same citizens to do the police work! Way to go to divide your own community and make everybody paranoid on each other. This is and will be their own PR nightmare come true if they don’t act responsibly and comphreensively about it.
