Codie at SL4B: Meet The Artist segment, chatlog included

My Second Life, Photoshoots, Flickr, My Friends, Events — CodeBastard Redgrave on June 25, 2007 at 10:13 am

It was my pleasure to welcome the people and friends at my SL4B booth for answering questions about my work. I was myself pushed into it, I got interesting questions flying on so, as usual, my large mouth coudnt wait to elaborate more about my ideas. ;)

A few people to attend; Vint Falken, Stephen Venkman, Kimberly Mirabeau, Mairead Fitzgerald, Victoria Coppola, Marquez Tone, Sabine Stonebender, Vivienne Graves, and a couple more happy droogies. =)

It was a lot of fun, at least for me, I’m so glad you all came and thanks again for that awesome moment. At the popular request, here is the slightly edited chatlog.

(lenghty logon, usual hellos, and such…)

Dramavatar SL clothing brand supports german Flickr users against censorship

My Second Life, Photoshoots, Scripting / Building, Dramavatar, Flickr, My Friends — CodeBastard Redgrave on June 16, 2007 at 5:13 pm

Relatively to my last post about Flickr censoring german users from viewing mature contents, I decided to release 2 of my Dramavatar Mood Shirts in a special package to support our german Flickr friends. The 3 shirt package is only 5L$ on SLExchange.Com and can be used to show your opposition to Flickr censorship of german users, with a humorous twist.

Get the two special Dramavatar Mood Shirts - Flickr Edition right here on SLExchange

The package contains the two following shirts: Too Hot For Flickr, and Flagged NIPSA. I think those express very well some people’s frustrations regarding censorship on Flickr. You can also ask me directly for them by IM when I’m in-game.

Dramavatar Against Censorship 2
You are not a german Flickr user? Lucky for you. But I support this cause because censorship can happend anytime, anywhere. Nobody is immune to it. It will happend more and more, so we better shift a gear and oppose it while we still can.

Also remember that this is not all of Flickr’s fault. If you are german and you are affected by it, protest your own governement, because they are responsible for Flickr censoring german users. Those puritanist morality laws are not to be beaten if you don’t go to your local representant and oppose them very firmly.

Down with censorship! Long live freedom of expression!

The witchhunt begins

My Second Life, Flickr, My Friends — CodeBastard Redgrave on June 16, 2007 at 5:02 am

Just a few days ago, I followed from my Twitter that my good friend Lienna Jael, journalist for Pixel Pulse magazine and blogger on CyberSpaceBabes.Com, has been expelled from a club she was going to visit for an interview with the owner for an upcoming article.

The owner of BDSM club that I wont name here, seemingly told her to change her avatar to an adult one or to get out.

Lienna Jael

Here is the tasty log excerpt, public log it is, edited to protect the identities of the protagonists. I hesitated to give some names especially of the owner, because frankly, she’s as paranoid as anyone at the moment, even if this is utterly ridicoulous. I just hope she recognize and whips herself for being so stupid:

Mister 1: Hi Lienna
Mistress: warning him again
Mister 1: sorry we are moving just now
Sub 1: sorry mistress
Mistress: he sad i have bugs in my mind
Mistress: lol
Sub 1: he said that to me also mistress
Mistress: lol
Sub 1: before asking me be his gf lol
Mistress: lol
You: Hello, Mister 1. : )
Mistress: change your avatar or leave
Mistress: now
You: To what?
Mistress: to an adult
You: Mine? I am an adult.
Sub 2: hello mistress - i was short RL
Mistress: then change to one
Mistress: you look to miner to me (NDLR: she must mean MINOR)
Sub 1: u look like a child lienna
You: Really? hm.
Mistress: rl calls
Sub 2: yes !!!!
You: Haven't heard that before. What would I need to change?
Sub 1: yes my mistress
Sub 2: leave here please
Sub 2: mistress??
Lienna Jael shrugs. As you like.
Mistress: yes?
Sub 1: ure body or skin, u look so yung
Sub 2: tomorrow is a bad day for SL
Mistress: ok

To her defense, she seemingly did not know about Lienna’s coming to her place to interview her for PixelPulse, and must just be very paranoid because of the actual witch hunt climate. One can hardly blame her for it, no pun intended to the Lindens but I fear something got out of order.

Codie hugs Lienna

Now what was just marginal and rather ignored behaviour in SL has just blown out of proportions, everybody talks about it. And it will extend to any weird or unusual RP behaviour if the SLizens dont make their voice heard. This is RP, not RL. This, the Linden’s reaction and the community’s reaction only gives some fuel to the uber-conservative fucks of this world; if they got children avies banned from SL, now they can clean the tubes of Interweb!
Sorry for being sarcastic about it, but maby the Lindens themselves are getting very de-phased about this issue and needs a course on how to distinguish RL from fantasy.

This issue also affects adults REALLY roleplaying childrens on SL, like my dear Annette Blachere. Those people are already confined to PG areas most of the time, but since the line about Community Guidelines is so blurred now, what’s next? Social services? Even if Robin Linden declared those types of roleplayers were acceptable, who will decide of their faith? Angry mobs of conservatives burning torches? I’m too sarcastic? Well it’s exactly what’s happening now anyways. Courage, Annette.

Flickr Saga continues! Flickr accused of censorship, yet again.

My Second Life, Photoshoots, Flickr — CodeBastard Redgrave on June 14, 2007 at 10:22 pm

I was not really surprised to see a wave of protestation going on Flickr, since all the problems I had with them censoring my work in the past, I hoped this matter was resolved with their new rating system. Seems this is another issue this time that all german users seems to have. Extracted from Marquez Tone’s Flickr Stream:

“If your Yahoo! ID is based in Singapore, Germany, Hong Kong or Korea you will only be able to view safe content based on your local Terms of Service so won’t be able to turn SafeSearch off. In other words that means, that german users (like me) can not access photos on flickr that are not flaged “safe” … only flowers and landscapes for the germans … We will not let this happen! Copy and upload the picture below (the link) to your account - show flickr who we are! Thank you!

No Flicr Censorship for Germans!

Just received: Concerned Residents for Second Life new election process for Governor

My Second Life — CodeBastard Redgrave on June 7, 2007 at 8:41 am

I just recieved this letter by Gmail, seems the sender wanted to remain anonymous. Here it is:

“Concerned residents for Second Life do hereby declare a new election process for Governor.

Governor Phil Linden has held the office for four years and the seat is now deemed up for re-election.

Interested parties should file a Petition of Candidacy in accordance with SL 22.141(A)(4) with the Concerned Residents Board of Elections no later than June 14 to be elegible for this election ballot.

Voting will be open to all residents and will be held on July 1, 2007.

The Concerned Residents”

The letter holds a footnote:

*Important note for the Confused*

This is satire. That means it’s fictionnal - not a “real” election (whatever it is.)

Well maby I should present! What do you think?

Windlights Secondlife upgrade reported until next week

Uncategorized — CodeBastard Redgrave on June 6, 2007 at 1:30 am

The Lindens needs to test more so the update is delayed. There will still be a maintenance tho but it’s all for the greater good!
