I’m rarely angry but yesterday night the adorable Vint Falken provided me with a nice occasion to relief some pressure somewhere. XD

She invited me to show me some shopping HUD, and instead I end up plumbing some mass destruction on her poor ex-bf. I would not like to be under Vint’s vendetta!

After someone showed me some of Marquez’s work, I just took a chance and sent him a Flickr mail asking him for a shoot. To my big surprise, instant positive answer. The next morning, on Saturday, he IMed me and down to Excalibur we went for the nicest photoshoot I ever got. Well let’s say apart me good friend Victoria Coppola never one completed a shoot on me apart myself. Codie felt a bit neglected

Marquez was a blast to work with. I had a lot of fun with him taking those shots. He was really amazingly quick to produce those final 3 photoshopped shots, I think he IMed me like 2h later and anything was done. I almost cried in joy when I saw the results.

When Marquez went out to photoshop the stuff, he pointed me that I should keep shooting a couple ones. Well I got inspired by the artist indeed because I went on and took over 400 shots in the same day. Some in Excalibur, some at the Lounge, some alone and some with new girls I had just met.

First Zal Chevalier made me meet the absolutely adorable faerie girl Neysa. Who in her right mind could resist a sweet cutie like this.

Then my very recent new friend Teenah just IMed me for some info, and needed shots for some job application. I took the shots she needed for the application, then I took 50 more. Woohoo! I just went to moderate the posts and Vic has left a message! So she is alive and well, and even well awaken from what you can read in the following repost of her comment:
OMG GUYSSSS thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for all the positive thoughts!!! I’m back at home, on my feet again, I didnt even feel sick at all!!! (Except for the Demerol shot, woot, that was fun, haha)
Surgery lasted longer than expected (1h30, instead of 30 minutes) the wound isnt even that big!! (Its 3 inches deep, though)
I bled a lot but felt almost no pain!!

Nurses were great and commented a lot on my nice butt. HAHA.

I have now what looks like a third buttcheek. If you want to achieve this look, it’s very easy, just put 8 layers of bandages. lol.

These 2 days in the hospital were very unconfortable. I had to lay on my sides and on the belly, never on the back, and all my muscles are sore because of that.
I hurt everywhere except the place i SHOULD be hurting, hehe.

Nurses were really cool, i had plenty of good food from my dad’s restaurant (I only ate hospital food once, yuk)

First bite i took after i woke up from surgery was cherry Jello and it was the best fucking thing i ever ate in my life. DAMN it was sooooo good

Now i can walk, but i’m very slow, going upstairs+downstairs is very unconfortable and driving in a car, driver or passenger, well, forget it. hehe.

Now I must leave because laundry and dishes won’t clean themselves

Greetings dear friends of Code Red Lounge,

The Code Red Lounge is on a fundraiser drive for our latest land buy. This expansion of land was necessary for the prim comfort of our members, and also to secure this part on the simulator to avoid overload. The actual terrain we bought is empty and is likely to stay this way. It will be used mainly to pool primitives for the new 12 unit appartment blocks we just build. Basically we did it for the well being of our members.

The fundraiser drive is to be ended Sunday April 1st. The total objective is 105 000$. We already raised about 35 000$L.

So come and play for fun and for the profit of the Code Red community.

Here’s the party times:

• Friday March 30th from 6PM to midnight Linden Time
• Saturday March 31th from 6PM to midnight Linden Time
• Sunday April 1st from 6PM to midnight Linden Time

In 2 months we have bought 20 000sqm of land and spewd way too much RL money to accomodate our growing and thriving community. The truth is that were flat broke in RL and SL, at least for the incoming month. It’s the last parcel of land were buying for a good while, but we invested so much yet it’s insane. All the money recieved will at least help us pay the land fees for a while and we will reinvest all of it to regularize the club party dates, hire DJs and do special events. We are completely revamping the lounge. We added many attractions and will expand much further. We are removing the VIP lounge that was not really used for private pay skycabins (we plan to give them for free to the VIP members).
HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT THE CODE RED LOUNGE

YOUR help is NEEDED. You can do much for our ongoing community. This place will soon be huge, participate, it’s time NOW. We will always be opened to you, the service will always be free of charge for all basic party activities. We payed for the land, we must pay the tiers fees, the shoutcast servers, and are putting a lot of our time. If you ♥♥♥ this project as much as we do, and feel like its your own family like we do, then please support us.

What you can do:

• DONATE DONATE DONATE: If our 130 members each spew 1000$L (about 5$US), were out of shit for good. Don’t forget we will do everything to make this place regular and give you endless fun and music.

• YARD SALE: Just down to the ground from the lounge, we placed dozens of articles for sale. I will place more during the weekend. I will also arrange the store and fill it with gadgets and furniture we made for the lounge, all for sale at the lounge’s profit.

• TELL YOUR FRIENDS: Bring them to the party, ask them to bring their friends, we must max out that place all week.

• HELP ME: DJ, host, and animate the party this weekend.

• RENT A LOFT: We have at least 8, maby 10 new apartments for rent. There 500$/week 115 prims nice flat lofts with slick design, less than 50 meters from the Code Red Lounge. Join our lovely resident community now, and help us pay the tiers fees by renting a place.

Indeed Flickr completely revamped their stupid NIPSA exclusion system! NIPSA is still existing but they remanaged all the system so that people explicitely can accept searching screenshots and CG images! You can ask for a re-review of your NIPSA flag, and as long as I keep your private stuff private, they will probably finally review my NIPSA rating!

If anyone wants to view any SL related photography, that person should go into:

You / Your account / Privacy and Permissions / Content filters

• Set content category to safe, type to CGI/illustration/….
• Set hide your photos to No
• And put safesearch Off for your viewing pleasure!

I’m still to manage all of the implications but for me it’s all good. After they remove that NIPSA flag, maby my pictures will finally show in SOME people’s searches! I had a tooth against you Flickr but good move. Now maby they will cease to infuriate the mass of SL photographers out there by treating them like pariahs.

Our resident DJ and Queen Dramavatar Victoria Coppolla is ongoing relatively major surgery to get some massive cyst removed from her back near the spinal cord. Her life is not threatened, but it is still operative surgery, and will require her at least 2 months of recovery. Through I’m having a worrying nature, I’m confident everything will go fine for her.

So the Code Red club will be without a DJ for at least 2 months. While then I have many options to find another DJ to replace her temporarily, and I asked RL DJs I know to prepare me a massive ammount of pre-made mixes to play in the lounge 24/24. So it will be DJ codie from now on for a little while.

I would like everyone who knows DJ Vic (or not) to post your encouragements in the comments, so she has something nice to read during her recovery. Send her all of your positive zen karma, she will surely need it.

I’m probably using Ubuntu and Debian Linux far more than Windows. But since i’m kinda stuck with at least one instance of Windows running for SecondLife while waiting for a more performant and stable Linux build, I at least try to bear using this dreadful OS by spicing it with the best appz the free software world can offer. Here’s my top unordered list of killer applications every power user should have installed, IMOHO.

• Democracy TV
• The free Web TV platform. Simple enough for any noob, install it and run it. Choose channels and play, sit and relax. Theres tons of great content, my fav being the French Maid TV and Channel Frederator. Lots of indy music videos too. DTV is in fact a RSS videopodcast feed reader thats entirely automated and allows Tivo like recording and viewing. DTV is based on Videolan, Bittorrent protocol, and Python among other things. Entirely free and opensource. Support the Participatory Culture Foundation, a non profit org that makes the soft. Compatible MacOSX, Windows and Linux.
• Flock
• My best discovery of the month. Blog and Flickr directly integrated into that Firefox based web browser thats entirely Firefox compatible, so you can add extensions too. It allows you to drag Flickr pics directly into your blog entries. Works with most known blogging systems. Works with Photobucket too. It’s also got a nifty RSS newsreader integrated to it that allows you to sidepost any news article from your feeds. Compatible MacOSX, Windows and Linux.
• Truecrypt
• If you care about your data, especially mobile data, Truecrypt is a killer app. It allows simple complete volume encryption on the fly. You format a partition and it becomes a real data safe supporting strong crypto. You can read your data on any machine with Truecrypt installed. Split a free space on your mobile hard drive and you have a portable data safeguard, in case of lost. Works with USB keys too. Compatible with Windows and Linux too.
• KeepAss
• If you are above the standard luser, like me you must have 2000 passwords to remember. Lucky Codie have a lot of memory for complex alphanumeric strings, but don’t feel bad if you dont. I found this fantastic and tiny application called KeePass (I like to call it KeepAss because its an ass saver). This program is a secure password vault. It allows you to enter tons of passwords classified be categories, and lets you open the password needy application with a single clicks. No need to copy the password manually, it automagically enters your buffer and you can paste it directly. A real time saver. Compatible with Linux, MacOsX and Windows, and there’s a plugin to export to a PalmOS compatible format to have your passwords under hand all the time!
• TorPark
• Another pleasent security app, that’s portable too. Its Firefox, with complete TOR integration. TOR is The Onion Router, that merges your machine into a secure freenet allowing true anonymous browsing. It’s slower than regular browsing, but nothing will show on the proxy logs at your job Windows only from what I know.
• PortableApps
• It’s not one single application. It’s a shitload of applications. All portable. It means you can install them on any mobile drive or USB key. Plug the USB device in any computer you have access too, and you will have your own Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice, Filezilla, GAIM, The Gimp, multimedia applications, fucking name it. They provide an installer containing dozens of high quality free and opensource applications, the kind we all ♥♥♥. Windows only, but the best kind.
• Hamachi
• Zero configuration VPN for the masses. It’s free. This app is so useful but can be very dangerous security speaking if you don’t know what you are doing. It allows you to create a VPN in less than 5 minutes and link a bunch of computers in a virtual local network, jumping any firewall. This allows you to connect to other computers in the network to perform any operation that usually needs port forwarding. Like local windows file sharing, FTP, game server, VNC, anything really. You connect to it like if the computer was in your local area network. Nifty and really practical. Windows and Linux compatible.
• UltraVNC
• The ideal tool to manage remote servers graphically. Similar to the old PCAnywhere or Windows Remote Desktop, this app adds up a few nice tools to help your friends. You can chat with them or perform some things ordinary VNC can’t do. For Windows.
